Chris Burch Loves The Island Resort Of Nihiwatu That He Helped To Create

Chris Burch has founded or been a part of many international retail brands and other business ventures that have led to success over the years. Within the last few years, he has found a new kind of business that has garnered his attention, and, surprisingly, it is in the hospitality industry. This investment of his is the Nihiwatu five-star resort that exists on the Indonesian island of Sumba, and he partnered up with James McBride, a hotelier, to make it all come together perfectly. It was during the year of 2012 that the pair bought a beach hostel on the island, and by 2015 it had been renovated into the quality resort it is today.

In 2016, Travel + Leisure voted Nihiwatu as the best hotel of the year, and the resort contains 27 private villas along with Burch’s own private home. When interviewed by Business Jet Traveler, Burch commented that he bought the resort with the idea of preserving something that he could give back to the community. He also expressed his love of Nihiwatu and spoke about the fact that it is a place where things that are not imaginable in other parts of the world can happen. In the end, he feels like the resort has become much more than he ever imagined it could be, and this has made him a very happy man.

Chris Burch is an active investor, entrepreneur, and the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Burch Creative Capital. For over four decades he has been investing and contributing to businesses in a range of industries, and some of the brands he has worked with include Faena Hotel + Universe, Voss Water, Poppin, and Jawbone. While he was still studying at Ithica College in the 1970’s, he helped to startup Eagle’s Eye apparel with a $2,000 investment. This business was eventually sold to Swire Group after making $165 million.

Burch partnered up with Ellen DeGeneres in 2014 to help her launch ED by Ellen DeGeneres, which is a lifestyle brand, and he also launched Cocoon9 that same year.
